Welcome to Melanie Broxterman's eportfolio!
As an intervention specialist, I always have gone the extra mile to show the great things that my students can accomplish. Sometimes it might take a little longer, sometimes it might look a little different, sometimes is takes going outside the box.....but the students can (AND will) show you they can achieve when the expectations are there. With the internet providing so much accessibility, the web allows me to display examples of student work for the parents as well as the rest of the world to enjoy.
This portfolio provides you a glimpse into our classroom as well as snapshot of myself as an educator and as a learner. This portfolio was created as part of the capstone course as I complete the Masters in Educational Technology program through Michigan State University.

- The Masters of Education Technology at MSU section displays the work I have done over the past two years in the MAET graduate program both as an individual student as well as cooperative projects with other MAET students from around the globe. The essays express how I have grown as an educator as I reflect on my past, present, and future as an educator and learner.
- The About Me section is just that, information about me as a teacher and a mom. Under this section you can access my educational philosophy, my resume, and other places you can find me on the web. In addition to teaching children, I enjoying sharing and educating others. The About Me section also lists presentations that I have given relating to special education, Universal Design for Learning, and using technology with students with special needs.
- The About My Classroom section gives you an overview of the classroom demographics and activities included in our school day. This section includes my classroom expectations with a focus on high expectations, combination of curricular and functional academics, and of course, having a lot of FUN!
- Last, but not least, the Student Showcase section is included to display some amazing work that the students have done over the past year. A problem based learning activity, examples of students using web tools, and student use of mobile technology was highlighted.
In my years of teaching, one of my main goals was to show that ALL students have the ability to succeed, especially when high expectations are presented. I am confident in the education that I provide each student; however, sometimes when I get caught up in the data collection, evaluations, observation, and meetings forgetting the experiences the students are a part of on a regular basis. Creating this portfolio has made me realize the activities my students have completed are quite extraordinary. In many cases, my students, many of them with significant learning challenges, often have more experience with using technology than their peers. If the students are going to be an respected, caring, and productive members of society, it is my job to prepare them for the future!
Please explore the site as it grows to showcase my students, my coursework, and myself as I do my part to become an agent of change within education.

This website is a work in progress. It is part of a graduate course I am taking through Michigan State University's Masters in Educational Technology program.
